Fresh & Delicious with #TequilaHerradura

What a fabulous way to welcome a mid-September afternoon when a delivery arrived with fresh vegetables, fruit and seafood. In another box there was a bottle of Tequila Herradura with a handy shaker and a spicy jalapeno and citrus Margarita mix. They were the recipe and drink kits I needed to get me back into the kitchen!

The shipment was for people that

signed up with Impastiamo to participate in a live Zoom cooking class with San Diego-based chef, Alma Fernanda Regalado. The class would take place on September 16th (Mexican Independence Day) and I was ready for it!

Impastiamo is a recently launched platform that works with companies to host classes in support of the food industry. On this occasion, Impastiamo partnered with Tequila Herradura to host the Sept. 16 cooking class with Chef Alma Fernanda. Impastiamo’s partnerships along with ticket sales from online class registrations benefit local restaurants, chefs and non-profit organizations who have been significantly affected by the COVID-19 Pandemic. Such a genius concept!

Chef Alma Fernanda studied at Le Cordon Bleu in Mexico City. She believes that “food is the way to share your love with the people you love”.

For this class,

The menu consisted of Tequila Orange Shrimp Skewers with a side of Guacamole. To drink, we made Spicy Margaritas. Everything was done from scratch and everything tasted amazing!

We began by making Margaritas.

Even though Impastiamo sent over a bottle of pre-made drink mix, Chef Alma showed us how to make simple syrup. This meant I had to start the class with two margaritas, because, well, I couldn’t possibly have one with the pre-made mix and not have another with my own homemade syrup!

By the time we were done,

I had a lovely buzz going, just in time to enjoy my dinner plate. The shrimp skewers which had been marinated with Tequila Herradura, chipotle peppers in adobo and other ingredients paired very nicely with the Guacamole.

I had a blast!

Thank you, Chef Alma, thank you Impastiamo Classes and thank you Tequila Herradura.
