A Sassy, Jazzy, Ipanema-Beach Classy Bedroom Wall

PHOTOWALL gets it right!

I received compensation and/or free product in exchange for a blog review. All opinions are my own.

Ever since we moved to Oxnard, my DIY home projects have taken a ridiculously long time to complete.

It’s probably because the boys have sports practice most week nights and games on weekends plus, I’m spending more time at my mom’s house since she’s so close now. But just to give you an example, painting a single wall in my dining room took me like 3 months!

For my master bedroom, I had envisioned black, white & grey patterns and textures but again, I wasn’t making the time to get to work.

Does anyone else feel like a two-story home should first be completely decorated downstairs before you start investing time and money on the second floor? Call me weird but I guess I was operating with that mindset.

However, I partnered with PHOTOWALL and now I’m inspired to work upstairs!

PHOTOWALL is a chic Swedish company that specializes in custom wall art (think wallpaper, murals and canvas frames). They believe that the most interesting homes “are the ones that express people’s personalities.” Wow. That’s my kind of company.

Thanks to this collaboration, I finally quit the excuses and took on my bedroom project over the summer!

For this particular wall, I wanted a black and white design that would complicate and compliment the master bedroom.

My bed has a regency-style striped headboard and a white wall behind it simply wasn’t elevating my headboard. Again, my vision was for hues of black and white to dominate the interior through different themes, perspectives, patterns, styles and looks.

Call it eclectic, call it maximalist or call it weird but lately, I’ve feeling all of the above.

Enter PHOTOWALL into the equation.

The company is not only very easy to work with, it has accessible price points for its wallpaper, wall murals and canvas prints. Nothing on the website is too expensive. They have an impressive selection of themes, colors and art collections for all your home decor needs and preferences. They offer fast shipping and best of all, you measure your space and submit the measurements online and PHOTOWALL not only allows you to preview the artwork but it also supplies the exact size indicated for a perfect fit.

I chose the Ipanema Beach pattern in black but just to give you an idea, they offer this same design in six additional color variations.

For the project, I measured my bedroom wall, submitted the measurements online and received a total of eight rolls of wallpaper, each with dotted lines that indicated where to cut the paper and instructions on which way to place it on the wall.

Applying the wallpaper

Initially, I thought I’d run into a few “bumps” when applying the wallpaper because my walls are have a texturized finish. Surprisingly, it all went rather smoothly— the texture did not affect the look. As a matter of fact, it makes it look a bit artsier, if you ask me.

When you’re ready to apply your mural or wallpaper, I recommend you purchase the wallpaper application kit offered by PHOTOWALL. This kit includes every single tool you will need to complete the task.

You will also need a bucket to blend the paste mix with water and a ladder to help you reach the highest points of your wall.

Once the paste is ready, it’s time to start working. I suggest you recruit an assistant since pairing the wallpaper strips requires that someone take a look from a distance and let you know if things look even. I asked my hubby Paul to help and we dedicated an entire afternoon to making this happen!

PHOTOWALL offers tips, tricks and instructional videos for customers on its website as well.

Take it from me, though— the company works with its customers and makes its products super easy to use!

Plus, they have the most fantastic selection of artwork to make your walls pop and give your space a personality to match your own!

For me, the Ipanema Beach pattern wall from PHOTOWALL, combined with the regency headboard, matching curtains, gold accents and other black & white details in my bedroom are a perfect mix of different themes! It may seem like a complicated combination of a lot of concepts but it looks really nice and functions really well now that it’s all put together… so yes, I can attest to the fact that my personality matches those characteristics…. lol

Thanks PHOTOWALL! My bedroom really speaks to me now :)
